Introduction:
One of the favorite anthological quotations, "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" (1) refers to a novel Animal Farm, written by George Orwell in 1945. Orwell applies the form of animal fable effectively, the short story of a group of barnyard animals that rebel against the human masters in an attempt to create an utopian state. In fact, Animal Farm is a political allegory for the rise and decline of socialism in the Soviet Union and the regime of Joseph Stalin. Orwell does not only address the corruption of the revolution, but also the evilness, greed, cruelness, wickedness corrupt the revolution. The novel portrays corrupt leadership as the flaw in revolution, in stead of the act of revolution. This website will discuss the connections between Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution, as well as how George express his ideas in his novel.
